A selection of works by the Women Photographers Collective of the Hudson Valley
September 2 - October 15
Womenphotographerscollective Exhibits
The exhibition will be up until October 15.
“DIVERSITY” includes works by Gail Albert, Joan Barker, Ana Bergen, Karen Davis, Nancy Donskoj, Jill Enfield, Lori Grinker, Maria Fernanda Hubeaut, Susan Keiser, Kay Kenny, Dorothea Marcus, Dana Matthews, Susan Phillips, Carla Schapiro, and Ruth Wetzel.
“DIVERSITY" aims at introducing this relatively new group of women photographers to the general public, through a selection of works free of any thematic thread to tie them. As curator of the show, I made my selections thinking what best this group has to offer and why it deserves everyone’s attention. The Collective gathers powerful voices, whose members express themselves at times in radically different styles, and that’s exactly what this show aims to capture.
WOMEN PHOTOGRAPHERS COLLECTIVE OF THE HUDSON VALLEY
Women Photographers Collective of the mid- Hudson Valley is a membership organization which promotes community building, networking, mentorship, and opportunities for presenting and exhibiting work. Our women-identified members range from documentary to fine art photographers, from established professionals to newly emerging artists. The growing Women Photographers Collective was formed in early 2020 as a way for Hudson Valley women photographers to network and support each other in their creative work, especially to counteract the isolation and disconnectedness of the pandemic. Artist-Writer-Teacher Kay Kenny, whose studio is in Saugerties NY, initiated the group and is its primary facilitator.
